Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about Longwood Day of Giving 2027.

What is Longwood Day of Giving?

Longwood Day of Giving is a 24-hour fundraising celebration taking place February 24-25, 2027, from noon to noon.  It brings together alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends to support the areas of Longwood University they care about most.

Why should I participate?

Private support plays an important role in Longwood's success.  Gifts from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends help fund scholarships, strengthen academic programs, enhance athletics, and provide hands-on learning opportunities for students.

Every gift, regardless of size, contributes to the collective impact of our Lancer community.  Together, we open doors, create opportunities, and strengthen the Longwood experience for years to come.

What can I support with my gift?

You can direct your gift to the area of Longwood that matters most to you!  With a variety of participating programs, departments, and initiatives, there are many ways to make an impact.

You can support scholarships, academic departments, athletics, and other University priorities.  You may also designate gifts to multiple participating areas.

Visit the Day of Giving website to explore participating campaigns and choose the area or areas you would like to support.

What counts toward Longwood Day of Giving totals?

Gifts and other qualifying contributions made during the official Day of Giving period may count toward campaign totals.  These may include:

Online gifts made between February 24 at noon through February 25 at noon.

Qualifying gifts made by phone or through other approved giving methods during the event.

Qualifying major gifts received during the event.

New recurring gifts initiated during the event, subject to campaign guidelines.

Matching gifts and challenge funds awarded according to the event's rules.

All gifts must meet the applicable Day of Giving guidelines to be included in campaign totals.  Existing scheduled recurring payments and payroll deductions do not count as new Day of Giving gifts.

What if I already give to Longwood through recurring gifts, payroll deduction, or earlier in the year?

First, thank you for your ongoing support!  Your generosity makes a difference every day.

Longwood Day of Giving is an opportunity to celebrate the collective impact of our Lancer community.  If you already support Longwood through a recurring gift of payroll deduction, consider making an additional gift during the event to help us reach our goals and encourage others to participate.

Only new payroll deductions or new monthly gifts initiated during the event will count toward Day of Giving totals, subject to campaign guidelines.
